In light of some recent diaries pointing to Bernie’s debate performance and this obvious “angry sexism” and “demands” for a “YES OR NO!”, I did a little research and found out that’s not the first time he’s done this.
Dear New York Dems,
As you go the polls on Tuesday, ask yourself do we really want a rude president? Interrupting, shouting, demanding people answer questions? I hope the answer would be clear in my underview.
First, just take a look at this short exchange from 1995:
Let’s break this down:
Right off the bat (:09) you see he gets into an angry sexist banter with the chair. This the chair of the US House of Representatives! Yet Sanders is clearly agitated, cranky, angry and obviously sexist! Just as he did to Hillary, he’s speaking over the chairman of the House!
The chair, recognizing this rude sexism, calms him down and then finally let’s him speak. But what does he do? Go right back to the angry sexist ways! (:30)
My ears may have been playing a trick on me, but I thought I heard the gentleman a moment ago say something quote unquote about homos in the military…
Listen to the part that’s important. He’s being coy, entitled, obviously putting himself in a position of power over another human being with his downright chauvinist line of questioning. Of course he had heard the remark, but why did he have to say “my ears may have been playing a trick” ?
Then he goes on to forcefully demand a Yes/No answer. “Was I right in hearing that expression?”. Sanders’s is so angry and so sexist that he fails to check with Rep. Cunningham if the question was indeed a Yes/No questions or not. He just assumes so and rudely demands an answer in the terms he wants to hear!!! Who the hell does this guy think he is?
Sanders: Was I right in hearing that expression?
Now, here comes the kicker. Rep. Cunningham actually answers the question! As rude and sexist as it was, but he’s able to control himself in a calm and presidential manner enough to answer it. But guess what? That’s not good enough for Bernie, he insists on his own terminology!!!
Cunningham: Absolutely, putting homosexuals in the military
Sanders: You said something about “Homos” in the military...
It’s like is this old crank even listening??? He already said Yes for fuck’s sake!!!
Anyway… you should stop listening there because the rest is just another patently Sanders sexist self-righteous speech. We already covered what’s important.
Honestly, New York, do you really want to vote for a guy like that?
Well, New York, luckily you have a perfectly good alternative. Listen to the way Hillary Clinton interacts on the same topic. You will agree with me, that there is no comparison.
Calm, relaxed, no raising of voices, elegant… presidential!
Look at the way she interacts with a hostile interviewer (Chris Matthews) on that subject in New York. She’s the epitome of class and elegance.
Did you see how she masterfully navigated the hostility and rudeness of the situation? Did you catch her demeanor? Does she raise her voice? Does she interrupt? Does she demand yes/No answers? NO! Her experience, wisdom and presidential demeanor is second to none!
So, New York, I hope I was able to demonstrate Hillary as your clear choice on the important issues we measure Presidents by.
