National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley is live on CSPAN talking about Annapolis.

Taking notes:

Three reasons why we think there's opportunity for peace now.
1-- Key Israelis have given up on "controlling and populating West Bank" and wish to retain "Jewish character" of Israel proper.

2-- Change in Palestine: leaders' first priority is "their own people", have rejected "terrorist violence," they are committed to establish a Palestinian state.

3-- Arab State have been engaged. Arab states until recently had not made "major investments required" for peace. They want to put I/P "behind them" and "focus on the security challenges in the region."

"Having decided to pursue negotations, it's critical that they not fail. If it's abandoned it will almost ensure that the next generation of leaders of the Palestinian people come from Hamas or terrorist groups."
